About
Tank Tech is a custom aquarium, tank maintenance, and supply business that was started by Matthew Baxter, an aquarium specialist with experience spanning 24 years.
At Tank Tech we are not only mad about fish, but we love designing systems. Whether they are simple solutions or advanced projects incorporating all the bells and whistles, we ensure the system works as you intended.
At Tank Tech we are collaborative. We are experienced in working together with interior designers and architects in order to achieve the level of customisation you are looking for.
We don’t stop until we’re proud. Our customer’s satisfaction is extremely important to us.
Meet Matthew
Matthew joined the aquatic world at a very young age. When he was 13 he began helping out at a well-known pet store in Boksburg where all he wanted was to learn everything there was to know about fish.
This soon turned to a weekend job right through high school which then became a permanent position after finishing school.
After taking a two year break to explore dry land he returned to his favourite underwater realm. He joined his parents in their aquarium maintenance business, doing everything you see on this site, starting from the bottom and working his way up.
He is now dedicated to converting his lifelong passion into a flourishing business which is already growing. Tank Tech is here to stay.
He is passionate about all aquariums, has kept it all, and has done so with pride. Nothing makes him happier than helping you care for your fish.
Having had the opportunity to dive various local reefs and a few abroad, aquascaping is another of his favourite things to do. Planning and laying out a mixed reef aquarium excites him just like a little boy at Christmas.
“He is so obsessed about fish, he refuses to eat them.” He states that it feels like he is eating his pets and no matter what his wife tries, she is yet to win the battle of fish food.
